SUMMARY:Chief Ron Lawrence Briefing "How Voters Can Keep California Safe"
DESCRIPTION:The Sacramento County Republican Party\nwas pleased to host this virtual briefing on an important ballot measure voters will consider in November. \nMany thanks to our event sponsors: \nSacramento County Supervisor Sue Frost\nKiki Grewal\, DMD\nElizabeth Jones\nSacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones\nAssemblyman Kevin Kiley\nSusan Mason\nMichelle Wong \nCitrus Heights Police Chief Ron Lawrence serves as the President of the California Police Chiefs Association. They are supporting the Keep California Safe ballot measure sponsored by Crime Victims United. The initiative has a growing list of supporters from throughout the State\, including public officials\, community leaders\, and public safety organizations. \nChief Lawrence discussed the need for these reforms and the opportunity California voters have to make our neighborhoods and places of business safer. \nThe Reducing Crime and Keeping California Safe initiative was developed in response to the Legislature’s failure to fix significant public safety problems created by AB 109 and Propositions 47 and 57. AB 109 shifted tens of thousands of criminals from state custody to overcrowded local jails and under-resourced post-release community supervision. Prop. 57 allowed many inmates to apply for parole earlier and Prop. 47 changed some drug and property crimes from felonies to misdemeanors\, allowing early parole for violent criminals\, and a surge in retail theft\, car break-ins\, burglaries\, illegal drug use and other property crimes throughout the state. \nLearn more about the measure at KeepCalSafe.org. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Citrus Heights Police ChiefRon Lawrence \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Introductory remarks were made by State Senator Jim Nielsen who represents the 4th Senate District. He is the co-author of California’s landmark Victims Bill of Rights and Marsy’s Law\, and previously served as Chairman of the California Board of Prison Terms.

SUMMARY:Sales Tax Increase Stopped in Sacramento
DESCRIPTION:Victory!\nThe STA and Board of Supervisors listened and learned that taxpayers have had enough! Once again taxpayers called and emailed their elected officials to express their opposition to another tax increase. And it worked. \nKudos to Supervisor Sue Frost and the Sacramento Taxpayers Association for taking the lead on a very diverse coalition of taxpayers\, businesses\, community organizations\, and political parties (GOP and Libertarian.) \nNow to defeat Prop 15 – the Split Roll Tax attack on Prop 13.  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The County’s insatiable appetite for your hard earned money is rising again. The Sacramento Transportation Authority voted to put a half-cent sales tax increase on the November ballot and now it’s up to the Sacramento Board of Supervisors to seal the deal. \nGood news! Polls show the tax increase has an uphill battle\, and that has forced the STA to reconsider their plans. They are meeting again on July 15 to revisit the issue and we need to let them know voters don’t want the tax on the ballot! After they make their decision\, the Sacramento Board of Supervisors will vote\, so both must be contacted. \nTake Action Now! \n\nBefore July 15 at Noon call (916) 875-2500 to pre-register to make a comment by telephone during the live STA meeting (July 15 at 1:30pm). Here is the agenda. Refer to item #3 when you make the call. Registered callers will be contacted by phone and transferred to the meeting to make their comments. You can tune in to Comcast Channel 14 to watch the meeting or view the meeting online at metro14live.saccounty.net.\nBefore July 15 email your opposition to Phil Serna\, Chair of the County Board of Supervisors and separately to Darren Suen\, Chair of the Sacramento Transportation Authority. Demand that your comments be read aloud at the meeting. Send each email c/o BoardClerk@SacCounty.net.

DESCRIPTION:About SacCountyGOP Meetings \nDue to the restrictions on public meetings\, we are holding meetings online for Committee Members and Associates only. The agenda is set in advance by the SCRP Executive Committee. Since participation in the Committee meeting is reserved for Committee members only\, local Republicans are encouraged to discuss their ideas in advance with a committee member (view the list of members)\, or to send their comments to info@saccountygop.com.\nThank you for your understanding as we impatiently await the reopening of California!\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The next meeting will be on Wednesday\, September 16\, 2020\, at 7pm. The meeting will be held online and is limited to Committee Members\, Alternates\, Associates and Endorsed Candidates. Actions taken will always be announced on this website. \nBallots will be in the mail starting October 5th\, so the agenda will highlight our Get Out The Vote program. In spite of the lockdown of our State\, SacCountyGOP has made necessary adjustments that allowed us to continue preparing for the November election. We are educating voters about our candidates and how they can make their vote count\, while raising funds for direct mail and campaign signs. Please check the Volunteer page to see how you can participate. \nVisit our Voter Guide page for the list of endorsed candidates. Please consider donating to their campaigns and signing up to volunteer.
