Keep Our Republican Headquarters Safe!

Now that we know the circumstances of the person who threw a rock through our headquarters window, we will not press charges and appreciate that he plans to repay us for the cost of the damage done. But this incident was a reminder that we must protect our volunteers at a time when the political temperature is high. We do receive threatening phone calls, and sometimes visitors to our office who are agitated and unbalanced. We never know if the person’s anxiety will escalate and we always do our best to listen and remain calm. Of course, more often, we receive calls and guests who are thrilled with the work of President Trump and our local elected Republicans, and they appreciate having a place to go to express their appreciation.

Our current insurance does not compensate us for damage to the office. We need to upgrade our coverage. And after this young man returned to headquarters on Monday to view the damage he had done which frightened our volunteers, we realized our security system is woefully out of date and not as helpful as we need to provide protection.
